Coyote Poets

Listening
in gray light
coyotes down
below

They’re in a circle
lonely together

They hunger for bones together
the only way they know

Heads thrown back
Throats tight




One cold rainy dawn on a mountain in Eureka Canyon, walking down a path from my cabin to start breakfast for the retreat at Pema Osel Ling I heard a pack of coyotes down below my cabin...
